Collection of old furniture and household appliances

Citizens and residents can request Dubai Municipality's free bulky-waste collection for household furniture and electrical or electronic items through the DM app, DubaiNow or the official chatbot. No documents are listed; a municipal employee calls to arrange collection. The service excludes free zones and development areas such as Palm Islands and Discovery Gardens. Confirm the area's collection provider where the municipal service does not apply. This household service is different from commercial or hazardous-waste disposal.

Commercial and hazardous-waste disposal permission

Waste generators and transport businesses use Dubai Municipality's waste-disposal service for commercial or hazardous waste, unwanted goods and unfit food. Documents depend on the category: examples include photographs, safety data, analysis reports, shipping documents or a food rejection report. Submit the correct category and respond to missing-information requests. Arrange transport and treatment through approved companies after permission. Recycling requires the receiving company's acceptance, and may require the receiving emirate's NOC. Disposal charges at municipal sites are paid through NAFITH. A disposal permit is not a household bulky-waste booking or a vehicle access permit.

NAFITH, RASID and waste-vehicle access

NAFITH is the smart-gate system for vehicle access to Dubai Municipality waste-disposal sites. Eligible waste-company vehicles must be activated in RASID. The access application requires the RASID certificate and vehicle plate details. RASID registration includes the appropriate trade activity, waste-activity permit, vehicle information and tracking-device requirements. After the access application is approved, the chip is delivered. The access permit expires with the associated RASID certificate. A lost or damaged tag can be reported from the company's registered email to PAS@dm.gov.ae with vehicle details.

Sewage withdrawal for premises outside the public network

Dubai Municipality's sewage-withdrawal service is for sites not connected to the public sewer network. Its listed eligible applicants are government entities and citizens who own and live in the house. Supply the Makani location and apply through a listed municipal channel; the department schedules the visit. Prepare access to the septic tank and answer the scheduling call, otherwise the service may not be completed. Do not assume this municipal service is available to every rented home. Confirm eligibility with 800900.

Connecting a building to the sewer network

Dubai Municipality provides permanent building sewer connections and temporary connections for construction offices. Applicants include building contractors, developers, citizen landowners and government entities. Supply plot and owner/contact details; depending on the case, include a manhole photo, drainage drawing and an undertaking. Apply through the municipal website or Build in Dubai, arrange inspection, address comments and pay applicable fees. A municipal contractor carries out the connection. The service states that permanent connection is required in areas covered by the network; it is different from pumping out a septic tank.

Environmental clearance for development and infrastructure

DECCA now handles this service. The retained municipal record describes the following requirements; confirm the current application channel with the responsible authority. Development and infrastructure projects listed in the official environmental-clearance guidance need the corresponding clearance. Government bodies or environmental consultants apply through Dubai Municipality's service with the owner's authorisation, environmental-impact assessment and relevant plans where issued by another planning authority. Amendments need an explanation and an updated assessment when required. Respond to review comments and pay before downloading approval. Validity depends on the project rather than one universal period. The current service record directs environmental enquiries to EIA@decca.gov.ae; confirm the project's classification and responsible team through that official route.

Industrial environmental clearance and changes to the activity

DECCA now handles this service. The retained municipal record describes the following requirements; confirm the current application channel with the responsible authority. Industrial environmental-clearance requirements depend on category A, B or C. Industrial establishments or environmental consultants apply through the municipal service or Invest in Dubai and submit the category-specific requirements. An expansion, relocation, extra activity or changed industrial process requires an amendment because its impacts may differ from the approved proposal. The service gives different validity periods by category; do not apply one company's period to another. Its current enquiry address is CIP@decca.gov.ae. Confirm classification with the responsible environmental team before treating an existing clearance as sufficient.

Groundwater dewatering permits at construction sites

Government entities and construction contractors use Dubai Municipality's groundwater-dewatering service through Build in Dubai or the municipal website. Depending on the application, provide a photograph of the inspection chamber, the proposed drainage-connection drawing and an undertaking from the landowner or authority. Submit, await the municipal decision, pay any applicable fee and obtain the permit. Validity is application-specific. The service describes automatic renewal when all requirements are met; check the actual permit status before continuing work. This is a separate application from sewage withdrawal or a permanent sewer connection.

Waste collection, transport and trading company permits

Dubai Municipality's waste-activity permit is issued to the company, not to an individual vehicle. Apply or renew through the municipal website or Invest in Dubai. Requirements include the appropriate trade licence or initial approval, premises evidence, vehicle-ownership documents and, for a first application, a company profile and business plan. Vehicles must meet the service's Dubai RTA registration requirements and be active in RASID with the required tracking equipment. The permit's expiry follows the trade licence. A company activity permit is distinct from a disposal permission for a specific waste load and a vehicle's NAFITH access tag.

Nature-reserve visits versus filming, research and projects

DECCA now handles this service. The retained municipal record describes the following requirements; confirm the current application channel with the responsible authority. The municipal nature-reserve service distinguishes ordinary individual or family visits from organised visits, filming, research, projects and wildlife movement. The service says individuals and families do not need this NOC for ordinary access, but identification and reserve rules still apply. Filming applications require the relevant film permission, script and additional authorisations such as a drone permit where applicable. Projects and wildlife movement require methodology and authority or owner documents. Requirements depend on the reserve and purpose; an ordinary visit does not authorise a commercial activity. Apply through the listed municipal service and follow its decision. Current enquiries are directed to nr@decca.gov.ae.

Public landscaped-area work: applications moved to RTA E-NOC

Dubai Municipality's service notice says applications for work in cultivated public areas have been discontinued on its website and are now provided exclusively through RTA's E-NOC portal. Companies, contractors and government entities use that route with the required site information and photographs. Municipal inspection and assessment may still be involved, including charges for affected plants where applicable. The result is received through RTA's system. Use the current RTA application route even if an older instruction refers to applying on the Municipality website.

Hazardous-waste transport vehicles and licence activity

A hazardous-waste vehicle permit requires the company's relevant licensed activity, vehicle-registration evidence, vehicle photographs and driver-training certification. Apply through the municipal service, complete the required inspection and payment, and obtain the e-permit. A general trade licence alone is insufficient; add the relevant activity through the licensing authority when necessary. The service distinguishes first issue and renewal and requires RASID evidence for the relevant renewal. Vehicles registered outside Dubai can be eligible, but this permission does not allow bringing hazardous waste from another emirate into Dubai for disposal. Follow the official vehicle and waste-specific requirements.

Well-drilling permission is separate from groundwater-use permission

DECCA now handles this service. The retained municipal record describes the following requirements; confirm the current application channel with the responsible authority. A well-drilling permit does not by itself authorise using the groundwater. Farm owners or contractors apply through the listed municipal service with the site and owner-authorisation documents; temporary project wells have additional project and undertaking requirements. After the permitted drilling, submit the well-completion report and accredited water-test results, complete the required inspection and approved flowmeter steps, and obtain the groundwater-use licence. Use registered drilling companies and follow the licence's quantity, purpose and validity restrictions. Selling groundwater is prohibited by the stated conditions. Current service enquiries go to Groundwater@decca.gov.ae.

Construction near sewers and stormwater networks: RTA NOC route

For construction, roads or demolition that could affect existing sewerage or stormwater networks, the relevant consultant or contractor applies through RTA's electronic NOC system. For a defined plot, provide its site plan or location coordinates, area and plot number; other projects need the construction route plan. The service records the municipal decision through RTA's website and issues the NOC through that channel. Validity depends on the project. This protects existing networks and is different from applying to connect a building to the sewer network.

Temporary lagoons for construction groundwater discharge

For a temporary groundwater-discharge lagoon, the municipal service requires the owner's undertaking, a discharge plan, a location map showing discharge and withdrawal points, and owner NOCs where applicable. Submit through Dubai Municipality or Build in Dubai, respond to comments, pay the required deposit and obtain the NOC. Once the project is complete, restore the temporary site and notify the environmental team as directed. Recovering the deposit uses the official refund process after restoration; it is not an automatic payment on the project's finish date. This is distinct from a general dewatering permit or permission to discharge into the sea.

Discharging water to the sea: new applications after expiry

Dubai-licensed civil-engineering or dewatering contractors can request the NOC for sea-water withdrawal or discharge to the sea, creek or canals. Supply the project location and assignment letters plus the relevant pipe, discharge or withdrawal plans. Groundwater discharge also requires the specified water-quality analysis. Apply through the listed municipal channel, obtain approval and pay before starting the approved activity. The service explicitly says this NOC cannot be renewed: continuing beyond its validity requires a new application. Do not treat a general dewatering or lagoon permit as permission to discharge into the sea.

Agricultural soil permits and changing a transporter

DECCA now handles this service. The retained municipal record describes the following requirements; confirm the current application channel with the responsible authority. The landholder or authorised beneficiary applies through the listed service for agricultural soil for a home, farm or project. Provide the affection plan if issued outside DM, or the permitted project-plan alternative, and an authorisation letter for a representative. After review and payment, the permit is issued. Additional soil needs a new application. An issued permit cannot be moved to a different plot; the Amend request allows changes only to transport companies and vehicle numbers. The published transport list contains suggested companies, not municipal approval or a guarantee of their service. The current service gives soil@decca.gov.ae for enquiries. Confirm current collection arrangements through the service before organising transport.

Waste-collection contracts for hotels and commercial establishments

Eligible hotels, shopping centres and listed food businesses request approval of waste-collection arrangements through Dubai Municipality. The service links approval of the specialised company's contract to issue or renewal of the relevant trade or tourism licence. Submit the required DET initial approval and classification evidence with the waste-collection and transport contract from a municipal-authorised company. Arrange the field inspection and present the documents. The Municipality provides approval or rejection reasons through its portal or email; follow the specified DET payment step after approval. This approves the establishment's waste arrangements and does not itself license a new waste-transport company.

Irrigation-network design approval

Government bodies and building consultants can request municipal review of irrigation-network designs through Build in Dubai or the municipal portal. Supply design drawings and supporting project documents. The conditions require submission by a DM-approved consultant with a covering letter explaining the reference and purpose. Select the correct connection type and prepare the required separate design or shop drawings for the irrigation categories. Automatic irrigation distribution work requires the approved contractor and current municipal technical specifications. The design review can return amendments before approval is issued. This design approval is separate from a permit to connect to the irrigation network. For application-system problems, the service lists 800900 and E-support@dm.gov.ae.

Connecting to recycled-water irrigation networks

Eligible applicants seek municipal approval for an irrigation-network connection, supplying the DEWA bill through the listed municipal channels. After review, obtain required service-authority NOCs, then use an approved contractor following final approval. The applicant bears connection-work and operating costs. Pay within the stated voucher deadline to avoid cancellation; monthly charges begin after connection even if water is unused. The recycled supply is treated sewage water and must not be used for livestock drinking or the listed leafy vegetables. Provide the required storage and an alternative irrigation source because supply may be restricted. A villa connection cannot be extended to another beneficiary. Contact the Recycled Water Networks Operation and Maintenance Section for cancellation.

Sewage-tanker registration versus NAFITH waste access

Government bodies and sewage-drainage companies register tankers before unloading at municipal sewage treatment plants. The service uses a vehicle electronic chip: register and pay through the municipal website, then collect it from the Sewerage Treatment Plants Department's Al Warsan services office. Lost or damaged chip replacement follows the listed office procedure. Sewage-tanker registration is separate from waste-management NAFITH access; the FAQ says those systems are not linked. Loads must meet unloading standards, and non-compliant industrial or other waste may need a different disposal permit. Confirm the current discharge location and operating arrangements with 800900 before dispatching a tanker.

Marine data is limited to the declared study

DECCA now handles this service. The retained municipal record describes the following requirements; confirm the current application channel with the responsible authority. Environmental consultants, other eligible consultants and contractors can request marine data for a named environmental study, research project or impact assessment. Submit the project holder's assignment letter and initial project plan through the municipal portal. After review and payment, obtain the approved data file through the website. The FAQ expressly limits use to the project or study specified in the application; it cannot simply be reused across other projects. Data access is separate from permission to undertake marine works, dredging or coastal excavation.

Major coastal works: design approval and construction NOC

Major coastal and marine projects follow separate design and construction stages. The design application needs the appointment and site evidence, engineering calculations, wave and coastal-impact studies, soil and bathymetric reports, and detailed drawings. The construction application adds the appointed marine contractor, method statement, marine environmental-control plan and activity schedule. The current municipal record explicitly requires prior application for development/infrastructure environmental clearance from Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority, DECCA, with its reference in the NOC request. Initial design approval alone does not authorise construction. Eligible applicants need the relevant Dubai marine activity; use the listed municipal or Build in Dubai route to confirm the project's scope and current conditions.

Minor coastal-structure NOCs: contractor application and renewal

Only the contractor can apply for the minor coastal-structure NOC; the consultant's approved designs support the application but do not replace the applicant. The scope includes the listed small or temporary coastal structures and certain survey, cable or borehole works. Provide the site plan or location letter, project assignment, consultant-approved design calculations, drawings and method statement through the listed municipal channels. The contractor must hold the relevant licensed activity for the work. The current service allows renewal through eNOC, while changing the structure type is not permitted under the existing approval. Do not assume that permission for one minor structure covers a larger coastal development.

Dredging NOCs and environmental-clearance evidence

A contractor licensed for the relevant dredging or marine-construction activity applies for the municipal dredging NOC; a consultant cannot submit in the contractor's place. Supply the assignment and location evidence, recent bathymetric survey, dredging depths and volume drawings, soil investigation, and a method statement identifying storage or disposal of normal and hazardous dredged material. The application also needs the development/infrastructure environmental-clearance reference and an environmental-control plan. Approval and payment precede issue of the NOC; the current record allows renewal through eNOC. Confirm the current environmental-clearance authority through the linked service because the municipal records use differing department names. This NOC does not independently approve every disposal destination.

Excavation within the Dubai coastal zone

Contractors licensed in Dubai for civil-engineering works request the coastal excavation NOC through Build in Dubai or the municipal portal. Supply the site plan or an official location-and-coordinate letter, the relevant project assignment if no DM building-permit reference exists, and the soil report. A project directly on the beach also needs the prescribed recent topographic survey in AutoCAD format. Municipal review and payment precede issue. The current service provides renewal through eNOC. This coastal-zone approval concerns excavation and remains distinct from the later sand-shift permission or a major marine-structure construction NOC.

Requesting or relocating a municipal waste container

Dubai Municipality can assess requests to move its public-space waste containers or supply containers for eligible villas and events. Submit photographs of the current location and the plot or Makani number through the listed municipal or Dubai Now channels, or start the request through 800900. A site inspection precedes the approval and delivery or relocation. The service lists citizens and building consultants and excludes investment areas. Do not move a public container or interfere with its contents yourself; use the Waste Operations Department's request procedure. Confirm the correct collection provider through 800900 for outsourced or excluded locations.

Infrastructure NOC protecting waste-service access

The municipal construction-and-infrastructure NOC service checks that a project's works do not conflict with existing or planned waste services. Road and infrastructure companies and their consultants or contractors submit the project site plans through Build in Dubai or the municipal portal. A municipal officer arranges a site inspection, and an approved NOC is supplied through the website after that inspection. The service can be relevant before or after partial or full completion and is mandatory for the specified road and infrastructure companies. Despite its broad title, this particular NOC concerns waste-service coordination; it is not a single approval replacing every project's drainage, road or environmental permission.

Diverting or disconnecting sewer and stormwater lines

Request municipal approval to divert or disconnect sewerage or stormwater lines affected by construction, demolition or a Sikka merger. Apply through the listed municipal or Build in Dubai route with plot and contact details, arrange the site inspection and complete any required payment. The service is performed by municipal contractors, or in exceptional cases by approved contractors under municipal supervision. Do not relocate a public drainage line privately simply because it passes through your plot. Approval and the recorded completion or closure are distinct from permission to connect a new building to the network. For other utilities within the property, contact 800900 to identify the relevant route.
